Take the 5-minute Newton Electrification Readiness Survey

If you own a single-family home in Newton, please take this 5-minute survey to help local environmental groups identify non-electric appliance use and better understand residents’ concerns.

Newton, just like Massachusetts, has a long-term climate goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. Since electricity is the only large-scale power supply that can come from green sources like wind, solar, and hydro, achieving this goal means needing to – over time – replace gas, oil, and propane use with electricity. This conversion is known as electrification.

Many homeowners are weighing decisions about heat pumps, energy costs, insulation, or solar — and trying to figure out what makes sense for their home. To more effectively plan for this long-term transition, Green Newton, Mothers Out Front Newton, and the Newton node of 350Mass are collaboratively conducting an Newton Electrification Readiness survey.

Your survey responses will help ensure that future programs and resources reflect the real questions, concerns, and priorities of Newton homeowners.
