Public Safety & Transportation Committee will meet in person (Council Chambers) and virtually (Zoom link) on Wednesday, March 18 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following items:
- Discussion on the City’s response to ICE: review of how the City of Newton will act should Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enter the city, to ensure established procedures are followed so that all individuals who live and/or work in Newton are protected, and to reaffirm the City’s adherence to its Welcoming City Ordinance

- Repurposing of $150,000 for the renovation of the Fire Station 2 bathroom, rather than for updates to Fire Station 1 and 2 living quarters
- Overview of the Sustainable Materials Management Division in preparation for the budget process
- Overview of the Utilities Division in preparation for the budget process
- Request for financial, technical and safety assessment of Actibump solution to supplement or replace speed tables for traffic calming

Traffic Council will meet in person (Room 211, City Hall) and virtually (Zoom link) on Thursday, March 19 at 7PM. The agenda includes requests to:
- Change the two-hour parking limit on the north side of Everett Street between Sumner Street and Dalton Road to a two-hour limit except by resident permit
- Prohibit parking:
- On the north side of Greenwood Street between Lion Drive and Dudley Road during school hours
- On one side of Greenwood Street between Lion Drive and Dudley Road at all times
- On the east side of Walnut Street from Fenno Road to a point 150 feet north of Fenno Road (previously held for trial)
- On the east side of Walnut Street from a point 590 feet north of Fenno Road to Commonwealth Avenue (previously held for trial)
- Add Stop signs:
- In front of 62 Fenno Road, eastbound
- At the intersection of Ellison Road southbound at Fenno Road
- Change the distribution of time limits in the Hartford Street Public Parking Lot to install reserved spaces for EV Charging Stations and/or EV Shared Vehicles (previously held for trial)
