Newton Free Library: Zarzuela in Newton – A Hispanic Heritage Celebration, Sept. 28

On Sunday, September 28 at 2PM at the Newton Free Library (330 Homer Street), Boston Opera & Zarzuela will present Zarzuela in Newton – A Hispanic Heritage Celebration, a classical lyric concert featuring solos and ensembles of the most well-known Zarzuelas of all time. Zarzuela is a traditional Spanish musical genre that originated in the 17th century and has since evolved into a distinctive lyric form combining operatic, theatrical, and musical elements, featuring a mix of sung and spoken parts.

Featuring international singers Alesandra Collins, Michael Gonzalez, Harry Otero, and Lucia Panizza, accompanied by Dr. Libor Dudas on the piano. As a Hispanic led nonprofit organization, it is part of Boston Opera & Zarzuela’s mission to share our musical heritage in Greater Boston.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Newton Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
