For the second consecutive year, Emily Craven is fundraising to make Fig City’s summer internship program possible. Last year, she raised most of the funding for Fig City’s summer internship program by running the Boston Marathon — and also organizing a 5K road race. This year, she’s doing both again, for the same goal.
The 2026 “Run the Headlines” 5K race — two flat laps around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir — will be held on March 14. Start time is 9AM at the gatehouse by the Reilly Rink. Register here.
Run the Headlines 5k is a fun run charity race for the Fig City News summer internship program, which is specifically geared toward Newton’s youth, offering mentorship, hands-on experience, and a platform for them to share their voices. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Fig City News summer internship program for local students.
