Programs & Services Committee will meet in person (City Hall, Room 211) and virtually (Zoom link) on Wednesday, July 15 at 7PM. The agenda includes:
- Appointment of Synthia Wayne to the Human Rights Commission
- Request to set early voting hours for the September 1, 2026 State and Federal Primary Election
- Request to set early voting hours for the November 3, 2026 State and Federal General Election
- Discussion and possible amendments to the notification process for Tree Permit applications, to extend abutter notification requirements to all Tree Permit applications
- Discussion and possible amendments to improve reporting of tree loss, preservation, and canopy data, requiring reporting of species and DBH for trees preserved and removed under all tree permits
- Review of the Newton City Charter, including the structure, composition, role, and duties of the City Council and School Committee
Chair’s note: Committee discussion will focus on Article 4 “School Committee” of the Newton City Charter.
