Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Kimberly S. Budd will speak in Cabot Park Village’s Black History Lecture Series on Wednesday, March 4 at 1PM in the Community Room of Cabot Park Village (280 Newtonville Avenue, Newtonville).
Kimberly S. Budd is the 38th Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. She was appointed as an Associate Justice by Governor Charlie Baker in 2016, and four years later was elevated to the role of Chief Justice.
Budd earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School, and her B.A. from Georgetown University. After law school she worked as a litigation associate in the Boston office of Mintz, served as an AUSA in the Major Crimes and Drug Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, and was an Associate General Counsel for Harvard University.
In 2009 she was nominated to the Superior Court by Governor Deval Patrick, and in her last year as a trial court judge on that bench, served as the Regional Administrative Justice for Middlesex Criminal Justice.
Budd is married to William H. Thompson, Jr. and they have two young adult sons.
Cabot Park Village’s Black History Lecture Series is open to the public and is organized by Lionel Porter in celebration of Black History Month.
