If you own a single-family home in Newton and use oil heat, please take this 5-minute survey to help local environmental groups identify non-electric appliance use and better understand residents’ concerns.
Newton, just like Massachusetts, has a long-term climate goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. Since electricity is the only large-scale power supply that can come from green sources like wind, solar, and hydro, achieving this goal means needing to – over time – replace gas, oil, and propane use with electricity. This conversion is known as electrification.
Many homeowners are weighing decisions about heat pumps, energy costs, insulation, or solar — and trying to figure out what makes sense for their home. To more effectively plan for this long-term transition, Green Newton, Mothers Out Front Newton, and the Newton node of 350Mass are collaboratively conducting a Newton Electrification Readiness survey.
Your survey responses will help ensure that future programs and resources reflect the real questions, concerns, and priorities of Newton homeowners.
