Join Newton Community Farm for the launch of its 2026 Bard Family Forum, featuring a talk by Orion Kriegman titled Planting Seeds of Hope: The Story of the Boston Food Forest Coalition (BFFC). The event will take place on Thursday, April 30 at 7PM in the Campus Center Auditorium at the Charles River Campus of University of Massachusetts Amherst (100 Carlson Ave, Oak Hill).
Building on the Community Land Trust model, BFFC has now established 14 food forest parks in Boston. These spaces build community resilience, engage democracy, and strengthen civil society all while transforming vacant lots into edible public parks.
This initial talk will be followed later in the year by events addressing specific aspects of how individuals can take action in their lives in response to climate change. Sessions will include: the role of dietary choices, transportation choices, and how to effectively engage with your government representatives.
All events in this series are free but space is limited. Please register here .The Forum is made possible thanks to The Bard Family Environmental Education Fund.
