Historic Newton hosts Walking Tour: Recreation and Relaxation at Newton Centre Playground at Newton Centre Playground (Centre Street and Tyler Terrace, Newton Centre), Tuesday, August 25 from 9AM – 10AM.
Landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted laid out plans for Newton Centre Playground in 1891, and much of his original vision still informs the park. On this walking tour, discover his original design and how subsequent landscape architects have made changes to adapt to local needs. Learn about the original location of the Hut, the nationally-recognized archers that practiced here, the history behind the infamous toboggan slide, and more!
Walking tours are $10 for Historic Newton members and $15 for non-members. Register at https://events.humanitix.com/walking-tour-newton-centre-playground
