Music Mondays hosts Zentangle, an art session at the Scandinavian Cultural Center (206 Waltham St, West Newton), on Monday, August 3 from 1PM – 3PM, taught by Brenda April, CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher).
The Zentangle Method, created by Massachusetts couple Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas in 2004, is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. These patterns are called tangles. As you draw, you explore the invitation to practice gratitude, to be present and to slow down, and to increase your focus and enjoy creating!
This class will guide you through the process, from a brief history of Zentangle, through the 8 basic steps of the method, to creating patterns with combinations of lines, dots, and simple curves. Zentangle art is non-representational and unplanned so you can focus on each stroke and not on the end result. But the outcome will surprise you! You will have created a beautiful abstract tile.
No artistic experience is required. All materials will be provided by the instructor.
This is an IN PERSON class only. Spots are limited. Please email [email protected] to save your spot.
