Newton Neighbors: School Supply Drive, July 13

Newton Neighbors hosts its annual School Supply Drive, collecting new and gently used school supplies from Monday, July 13 through Saturday, August 1, with donations accepted at drop-off locations throughout Newton, including The Village Bank branches, the Auburndale Community Library (375 Auburn St, Auburndale), Fulfilled Goods (1280 Centre Street, Suite 6, Newton Centre), and The Street Chestnut Hill.

This annual effort, coordinated with Newton Public School social workers and others, helps to ensure that all kiddos can start the school year off with essential basic school supplies. Last year, Newton Neighbors was able to provide backpacks and other supplies to more than 150 students!

Donations requested:

  • New or gently used graphing calculators (particularly the TI-84 CE, used by NPS)
  • New or gently used backpacks (priority: middle and high school backpacks)
  • New or gently used lunchboxes
  • Water bottles
  • $25 gift cards to Star Market, Target, Marshalls, TJMaxx, or Amazon for school supplies and clothing

Please do not donate items with monograms or company-specific logos.

Cash donations gratefully accepted so that Newton Neighbors shoppers can purchase most-needed items. Thank you for donating at newtonneighbors.org/donate!

Special thanks to Newton Neighbors’ perennial partners in the School Supply Drive: The Village Bank, Fulfilled Goods, and The Street. Their help is essential to the drive’s success. And a hearty round of applause for Newton Neighbors’ friends at the Auburndale Community Library: they offer not only a location to drop off donations but also open their facility to Newton Neighbors to store and organize donations. It truly takes a village, and Newton Neighbors is blessed to be in such a generous community!

Need school supplies? Please contact the Newton Social Services Division at 617-796-1420, or reach out to your child’s NPS school social worker to ask about availability.
