Newton Conservators Bioblitz: Help ID Newton’s Flora in Saw Mill Brook, Aug. 1

Newton Conservators is hosting a Bioblitz in the Saw Mill Brook Conservation Area on Saturday, August 1, from 10AM to 12 noon. Zach Shein, an experienced botanist and habitat restoration professional, will identify many of the plants inhabiting the conservation area’s forested uplands and wetlands. He will also show participants how to post their observations to the iNaturalist app. Participants do not need to be experts, and families are welcome.

Download the free iNaturalist app to your phone beforehand from the Apple App Store for iOS or the Google Play Store for Android. Participants should wear long pants and sturdy shoes. The conservation area has several uneven bog bridges to traverse. A steady rain will cancel the Bioblitz.

Participants should meet at the Vine Street entrance (opposite 5 Hollywood Drive).
Extra parking is available on Wayne Street.

For questions concerning the Bioblitz, contact Zach Shein at [email protected].

Registration is required and limited to 30 people. To learn more about Newton Conservators and its free guided walks, invasive pulls, and other activities visit newtonconservators.org.
