Newton Free Library presents Artist Talk with Ed Pontes at the library (330 Homer St, Newton Centre) on Wednesday, August 12 at 7PM.
Join the artist for an interactive conversation about his exhibit, Through the Shade of a Tree, on display for the month of August at the Newton Free Library. Ed will share the trials, inspirations, and development of his Delimited Drip Painting, an innovative technique using gravity to create images that highlight the nature of our vision system. In this talk, he will use visual materials to explain the optical effects of Divisionism and depth perception that can be observed in his work.
About the presenter: Ed Pontes was born and raised in Southeastern Massachusetts. After earning his BFA at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth (SMU), he moved to Boston with his wife, where they settled to work and raise their family. Ed has been a self-employed artist for his entire career, developing his original works while also executing graphic art projects for commercial clients throughout the greater Boston area. During those years, he maintained a business and studio in various neighborhoods around the city, in the Back Bay, Allston, and Brookline, where he still lives and works today.
