On Saturday, May 2 at 2PM, the West Newton Cinema (1296 Washington Street, West Newton) is partnering with The Boston Club for a screening of Join or Die, followed by a club “joining fair” – an opportunity to meet representatives from over 15 area clubs and organizations, and get involved.
The film, inspired by Robert Putnam’s research, looks at the decline in American civic life — from bowling leagues to neighborhood groups — and makes a compelling case that joining clubs and community organizations is essential to healthy living and to a healthy democracy.
Here is the list of organizations that will be at the fair:
- Newton Free Library
- LGBTQ+ Newton
- Green Newton
- Friends Beyond Boston-Waltham Social 20s-40s
- Highland Glee Club Men’s Chorus
- Rock Voices
- Newton Camera Club
- Newton Lions Club
- Newton Women’s Forum
- Rotary Club of Watertown
- League of Women Voters of Newton
- Newton Rotary Club
