- Public hearing on City’s response to ICE — 6-0 (Councilors Golden and Irish not voting). The discussion reviewed how the City of Newton will respond should Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enter the city, with the purpose of ensuring established procedures are followed to protect all residents and workers and to reaffirm Newton’s adherence to its Welcoming City Ordinance. A full report on this item is forthcoming. The room was packed with residents, the majority of whom spoke out against the City providing support to Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
