Newton Free Library: “Come Together” The Pamela Means Abbey Road Show, Jun. 21

Newton Free Library presents “Come Together” The Pamela Means Abbey Road Show on Sunday, June 21 from 2:00PM – 3:00PM at Druker Auditorium (330 Homer St, Newton Centre).

“Come Together” The Pamela Means Abbey Road Show is an intergenerational community concert. Millions of doods and brosephs out there doing The Beatles, but only one biracial queer woman achieving this feat! One woman, one guitar, one voice, performing all seventeen songs, in entirety, in order, on Abbey Road.

Celebrating and honoring its influence across time and space, Pamela Means’s performance and interpretation of The Beatles Abbey Road, becomes a powerful phenomenon where people “Come Together” in multi-generational cheer, from toddlers and teens to octogenarians in jeans, crossing divisions and demographics, creating community, close in commonality. Plus, the uplifting power of representation and collective joy. This is for all of us. “Music is community. Community is humanity. Jubilance to share, a gift I am fortunate to give, ‘Something’ to behold. ‘Here Comes the Sun’ and, I say, it’s alright.”

Pamela Means is an Easthampton MA-based, multiple award-winning, singer-songwriter and jazz musician. Protest anthem writing, Biracial, Queer, Artist-Activist and, “one of the fiercest guitar players and politically-rooted musicians in the industry today,” (Curve Magazine) – who’s worn a hole in two of her guitars – with her “insanely brilliant” (Press Herald, Portland ME) and “stark, defiant songs.” (New York Times)

“When Pamela Means picks up her guitar and begins to sing, a listener doesn’t forget her. She possesses musical attitude and purpose.” – WSHU Connecticut Public Radio
