Newton Schools Foundation (NSF) will host its second annual Trivia Night fundraiser on March 13, 7PM-10:30PM, at American Legion Post #440 (295 California Street). Proceeds from the event will fund grants for teachers to bring innovative programs and educational approaches to students in the Newton Public Schools.
“Trivia Night is a not-to-be missed event that brings the community together to support a great cause,” said NSF Co-president Theresa Fitzpatrick.
Last year more than 160 people formed teams of neighbors, coworkers, public officials, local organizations, and friends old and new to put their knowledge to the test in NSF’s first-ever Trivia Night. Money raised helped NSF fund 42 grants totaling more than $160,000 and reaching students across all of Newton’s schools last year.
This year’s event—led by James Marohn of Games with James and featuring a cash bar and food from
local purveyors—promises to be even bigger.
“The Newton community profoundly values education,” said NSF Co-President Karen Manning. “And NSF likewise values education and community. In hosting Trivia Night, NSF will raise funds to enhance the educational experience of Newton students while building community. We know those attending will enjoy this uniquely upbeat, animated and memorable event!”

Newton Schools Foundation is a volunteer-run 501c3 organization that partners with Newton Public Schools to fulfill grant requests from educators across the district. Since 1985, NSF has provided more than $4 million in grants to teachers and staff in all 22 Newton schools, transforming the education of Newton students from preschool through high school. Recent grants helped fund Take-a-Break spaces at each elementary school, new tools for language learning in Newton’s two high schools, and training to improve instructional leadership and teaching practices across the district.
