Green Newton & the City of Newton: 5th Annual Earth Day Festival, May 3

The 5th Annual Newton Earth Day Festival, hosted by Green Newton and the City of Newton, will be on Saturday, May 3 from 12-3:30PM at the Zervas Elementary School (30 Beethoven Ave, Waban).

The festival brings together residents of all ages for a dynamic, family-friendly celebration of sustainability and local climate solutions.

Students from Newton South High School’s Key Club and Newton North High School’s Green Team are organizing a community-wide reusable items drive, culminating in an interactive space where attendees can exchange clothing, sports gear, toys, and games, to help reduce waste and promote reuse.

In addition, the festival will showcase a poetry and art gallery featuring works created by students from across Newton.

The festival will also feature a wide range of local vendors, nonprofits, and hands-on experiences. Attendees can explore offerings from organizations focused on solar energy, home insulation, and electrification, alongside more unexpected and engaging elements such as urban permaculture, goatscaping, and plant-based diets.

The free festival has become one of Newton’s most anticipated spring events, offering a lively experience where community members can explore practical ways to live more sustainably while connecting with neighbors, students, and local organizations.
