City Council Meetings – Week of 6/14/2026

Land Use Committee will meet in person (City Hall, Council Chambers Room 207) and virtually (Zoom link) on Tuesday, June 16 at 7PM. The agenda includes:

  • Special permit for four attached single-family dwellings and associated relief at 60 Brookside Avenue. Petition documents. Planning Memo.
  • Special permit to exceed FAR and allow a detached ADU with reduced setbacks and oversized dormers at 2 Rowe Street. Petition documents. Planning Memo.
  • Special permit for five attached single-family dwellings in two buildings with associated dimensional and parking relief at 83 Lexington Street. Petition documents. Planning Memo.

Public Facilities Committee will meet in person (City Hall, Room 204) and virtually (Zoom link) on Wednesday, June 17 at 7PM. The agenda includes:

  • Repurpose of $150,000 and transfer of $177,000 for renovations at Fire Station 2
  • Request for discussion and study on the option of removing the Bullough’s Pond dam (Chair’s Note: Chief Operating Officer Josh Morse will join the Committee to discuss all design options for the Bullough’s Pond Dam Rehabilitation Project).

Public Safety & Transportation Committee will meet in person (City Hall, Room 205) and virtually (Zoom link) on Wednesday, June 17 at 7PM. The agenda includes:

  • Transfer of $1,175,000 to Newton Police Department for contractual FY27 wage increases
  • Transfer of $710,000 for retroactive wage adjustments
  • Discussion and ordinance change to the City’s Overnight Parking Ban
