Join the Newton Free Library and GBH for an Indie Lens Pop-Up! Hosted at the Library (330 Homer Street, Newton Centre) on Monday, February 23 at 6:30PM, this event will feature a screening of the Independent Lens documentary The Inquisitor, followed by an interactive discussion led by facilitators from Families Organizing for Racial Justice (FORJ).
Explore the life and legacy of Barbara Jordan in The Inquisitor. Jordan was a groundbreaking Texas congresswoman whose sharp intellect and moral clarity transformed U.S. politics. From Nixon’s impeachment to civil rights battles, her voice demanded accountability, while she privately faced struggles few ever knew of.
Following the screening, facilitators from FORJ will lead interactive small-group discussions where everyone will have a chance to reflect on the film, with a focus of one of the documentary’s key themes: finding your voice.
The film runs approximately 60 minutes, followed by a 45 minute discussion.
