  • Patriots Day …on Monday, with City offices closed and the Boston Marathon creating excitement, perhaps breaking another record, while raising funds for charities and closing many streets around the route
  • April Break …with Newton Public Schools closed for the week

  • Fig City News …celebrating our 200th week of publishing news and community announcements

City Council

City Council is not scheduled to meet this week.

Public Safety & Transportation Committee meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled.

Public Facilities Committee will meet Wednesday regarding:

  • Day Street, Fuller Street, and Commonwealth Avenue intersection redesign
  • Clarification of public way improvements requiring City Council approval
  • City Council participation in planning for the future of the use of gas in Newton

Programs & Services Committee will meet Wednesday regarding:

  • Notification process for Tree Permit applications
  • Resolution to endorse bills supporting access to primary care

School Committee

School Committee is not scheduled to meet this week.

Newton Energy Commission will meet Wednesday regarding:

  • Clark student presentations on community survey, dashboard, and GHG inventory
  • Outcome of R. White discussion with Chamber
  • Smaller Buildings update
  • GSEP/Electrification
  • BERDO Regulations/City Council presentation

Newton Historical Commission will meet Thursday. The agenda includes:

  • Preservation Restriction Review: 35 Webster Street
  • Local Landmark Review: 242 Islington Road

Development Review Team will meet this week regarding the following potential project/proposals:

  • 10-12 Bowers Street: MRT project — subdivide the lot into two lots and build one three-unit building on each
