Green Newton presents Junk Jam and Upcycle Parade at Lincoln-Eliot School (150 Jackson Rd, Nonantum), the final program in the Picnic & Play in the Park series, on Thursday, August 13 from 10:30AM – 12:30PM.
Newton families are invited to a hands-on sustainability activity this summer, part of the City’s Picnic & Play in the Park series. The event is sponsored by Green Newton and Newton Parks, Recreation & Culture.
The series concludes with a Junk Jam and Upcycle Parade, a creative reuse event where families will transform recycled materials into costumes, hats, and musical instruments before marching through the park in a colorful Sustainability Parade. Participants are encouraged to bring clean recyclables from home, including:
- Cardboard boxes
- Toilet paper rolls
- Newspapers
- Plastic containers
The event is free, family-friendly, and includes a snack.
