City Council
City Council is not scheduled to meet this week.
Public Safety & Transportation will meet on Wednesday regarding:
- New public auto license for Fredik, LLC (the petitioner has requested to withdraw this petition without prejudice)
- Continued discussion of the City’s response to ICE and its adherence to the Welcoming City Ordinance (no public comment will be taken on this item)
Traffic Council will meet on Thursday regarding items scheduled for discussion:
- Accessible parking space in front of 60 Lincoln Road
- Changing parking on the north side of Beacon Street near Boston College to “live bus parking only” for Campus School drop-off and pick-up
- Designating Jasset Street between Faxon and California Streets as a 20 mph Safety Zone
- Stop signs at the Larchmont Avenue / Chestnut Street intersections
- Resident-permit exception to the morning parking prohibition on Brae Burn Road
- Removing up to 4 parking spaces on Florence Street for Sunrise Senior Living
- Possible parking prohibition on the south side of Charlesbank Road near St. James Street

Boards and Commissions
Newton Cultural Council will meet twice on Monday: a 5:30PM Open Meeting Law training session prior to the 6:30PM regular meeting covering reception plans, survey updates, grantee interviews and adjudication, NCC Speaker Series, and a Department of Arts and Culture update.
Newton Retirement Board will meet on Tuesday regarding:
- Adoption of new COLA legislation per a PERAC memo
- Increasing the post-retirement earnings limit from $15,000 to $25,000
- City audit
- Pending items including a new Director position and office security
Newton Free Library Board of Trustees Finance Committee will meet on Tuesday to review FY26 financials and investment performance and set FY27 committee goals.
Newton Fair and Affordable Housing Partnership will meet on Tuesday regarding:
- 1314 Washington Street discussion
- Newton Thrive Program update
- Total Development Costs update
- Opportunities to raise funds for affordable housing
- Future items including a 38 Crafts Street presentation and an introduction to the new Director of Planning
Council on Aging will meet Tuesday on Cooper Center updates, codification of Chapter 14 and the COA Bylaws, and next steps for Age Friendly Newton.
Conservation Commission will meet on Thursday regarding:
- Notices of Intent at 337 California Street, 9 Malvern Terrace, and 160 Dartmouth Street
- Certificates of Compliance for duplex projects at 34 Brookside Avenue and 122-124 Cabot Street
- A Friendly Enforcement Order for restoration at 326-358 Fuller Street (Brae Burn Golf Club)
Other
Development Review Team will meet this week regarding the following potential project/proposals:
- 45 Ward Road: Accessory dwelling unit above a detached garage, with a request for two surface parking stalls in the front setback.
