City Council

Zoning & Planning will meet Monday regarding:
- Ordinance amendments to dimensional controls for residential development on Business Use (BU) lots, with focus on lots in and adjacent to residential neighborhoods
- Two referred items on the impact of recent ordinance changes — including the 60% facade build-out ordinance and changes on housing costs and new growth
- Appointing Christopher Markiewicz and Sapir Ng to the Zoning Board of Appeals, and Dante Capasso as an alternate member
- Reappointing Doug Cornelius to the Newton Historical Commission
Public Facilities will meet Wednesday regarding:
- CPC recommendation to appropriate $1,900,000 in Community Preservation Act funds for a grant to the Newton Affordable Housing Trust
- Transfer of $623,130.15 in excess debt exclusion bond proceeds from Cabot Construction to Franklin Construction
- National Grid grant of location for a new regulator station at Commonwealth Avenue at Washington Street
- Appointing Stacy Roman to the Design Review Committee
- Reappointing David Gillespie, Peter J. Barrer, and Carol S. Schein to the Design Review Committee
- Request to withdraw without prejudice a petition to relocate a City drain easement at 129 Rowe Street

Newton Cultural Council Reception Committee will meet Monday to plan the grantee reception.
Board of License Commissioners will meet Tuesday regarding:
- One-day temporary all-alcohol license for an event at the Windsor Club in Waban
- Changes of on-site manager at The Cheesecake Factory and Wegmans in Chestnut Hill
- Surrender of a Wine and Malt package store license by Star Market in Chestnut Hill
Board of Assessors will meet Wednesday to approve July 2026 exemption and abatement reports.
Chestnut Hill Historic District Commission will meet Thursday regarding:
- Violation review of installed chain link fence at 46 Acacia Avenue
- Requests for Certificates of Appropriateness to:
- Install James Hardie plank siding at 25 Old England Road
- Install HVAC system at 30 Kingsbury Road
- Replace gutter system at 67 Old Orchard Road.
Conservation Commission will meet Thursday regarding Notices of Intent for:
- Addition and deck expansion at 312 Woodcliff Road
- Removal of invasive plants at 57 Heatherland Road
- Stormwater and parking lot improvements at 1 Nonantum Road (Daly Memorial Rink)
Sustainable Materials Management Commission will meet Thursday regarding medication take-back, meeting with Mayor Laredo, SMMD reorganization, and the SMMD report.
