Public Hearing: FY26 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER), Sept. 8

Newton Planning and Development Board

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Planning & Development Board will hold a hybrid meeting on Tuesday September 8, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 205 and virtually via Zoom. To participate in this meeting virtually, visit https://newtonma-gov.zoom.us/j/86570033029 or dial +16469313860,,86570033029#.

The City of Newton and the WestMetro HOME Consortium, including twelve other member communities (Towns of Bedford, Belmont, Brookline, Concord, Lexington, Natick, Needham, Sudbury, and Wayland and Cities of Framingham, Waltham, and Watertown), are holding a public hearing on the FY26 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER), as required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The FY26 CAPER analyzes the progress made during the fiscal year (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026) in achieving the goals set forth in the FY26-FY30 Consolidated Plan. The Consolidated Plan outlines the strategies and goals Newton and the WestMetro HOME Consortium employ for the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds.

The purpose of the public hearing is to solicit feedback and ensure grant funds are effectively spent to assist low- and moderate-income residents. The draft FY26 CAPER can be found at https://www.newtonma.gov/government/planning/housing-community-development-copy. A printed copy of the report is available in Newton City Hall, Room 201.

Comments on the proposed plan will be accepted at the public hearing and in writing to Lara Kritzer, Planning and Development Department, 1000 Commonwealth Avenue, Newton, MA, 02459 or via email at [email protected]. The deadline for submitting comments is September 23, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
