Hummingbird Books will host a conversation — Alice Hoffman with J. Courtney Sullivan — on Wednesday, September 9, 7PM-8PM at the JCC Greater Boston (333 Nahanton Street). Doors open at 6PM.
They will discuss Alice Hoffman’s prolific career as an author and her upcoming new release on September 8, The Witches of Cambridge.
Tickets are $29 for admission and a signed book, or $18 for admission only.
Alice Hoffman is the author of thirty works of fiction, including Practical Magic, The Dovekeepers, Magic Lessons, and The Book of Magic. Practical Magic was adapted into a movie in 1998, with a sequel starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock coming to theaters this September.
Hoffman’s latest novel, The Witches of Cambridge, introduces Ava and Lauren, who meet at Radcliffe College when they are invited into a secret and historic organization of witches known as the Lilith Society. While Radcliffe College initially seems like a haven, the shadow of McCarthyism and the witch trials that marked Massachusetts’ early days as a colony loom large. As Lilith Society students begin to go missing, the girls realize that when it comes to who to trust among their peers, romantic partners, and teachers, nothing is as it seems.
