Newton for Everyone: Why Newton’s Housing Rules Aren’t Working — and How the City Is Beginning to Fix Them, Jun. 17

Newton for Everyone presents Good Intentions, Bad Outcomes: Why Newton’s Housing Rules Aren’t Working — and How the City Is Beginning to Fix Them on Wednesday, June 17 at 7:00PM at Congregation Dorshei Tzedek (60 Highland St, West Newton) & Zoom. More info and RSVP.

Newton’s exhaustive permitting process too often results in expensive McMansions rather than the diverse housing options essential for a thriving community. To understand how we can change this, join us for a deep dive into the current permitting pipeline and new zoning solutions. The event features insights from Utile’s urban designers on their collaboration with Newton’s planning staff and their innovative zoning initiatives across New England.

Newton for Everyone will have an Information Booth at five community events around Newton between June 14th and this Fall.

Sign Up to work in the booth for the first event: the Newton Highlands Village Day on Sunday, June 14, 2026! It’s easy, fun and does not have to take a lot of time!

If you can’t make it on June 14th, there are four additional opportunities to help out in a NFE booth in 2026. NFE would love to see you on June 19th at the Juneteenth celebration at the Hyde Center that is coming up shortly.
