Emily Norton, Executive Director of the Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA), was honored on the field at Fenway Park before the Sox-Yankees game on April 22, as part of the Red Sox’s commemoration of Earth Day. After the 5th inning, the Fenway Jumbotron flashed this message from CRWA: “We love that dirty water. Stop Dumping Sewage into the Charles River.” Norton told Fig City News, “This helped us raise awareness of the issue of sewage still being discharged into the Charles. We find that when people learn this is still happening, they are disgusted and motivated to join us in calling for an end to it.”
